Now that I am a Christian, what do I do?

Accepting God's free gift of salvation isn't simply the end of your journey, in fact it is only the beginning! Keep in mind that God has big plans for your life and wants to be apart of it! Eternity with God doesn't just start when this life is over, but being a Christian is about establishing relationship with God today! Here are a few things to help you along the journey......

PRAY REGULARLY- Prayer is simply talking with God. It is a conversation. Like any friendship, our relationship with God requires investment and time. We should take time everyday to talk with God; to share with him what is happening in our lives and to listen to His soft, gentle word. Listening to God takes time and practice. It also requires us to turn off all the distractions around us. When we focus on Him, we grow closer in relationship and in tune with his direction for our lives!
The big question asked is...how do I pray? Jesus was asked this question and gave us a great example- Matthew 6:9-13. This passage gives us four main parts to prayer- here is a simple acronym to help:
P- PRAISE- Thank God for what he has done in your life, and for who He is!
R- REPENT- Confess your sins. Ask God to forgive you and give you a fresh start.
A- ASK- Talk with God about your problems and request his help.
Y- YIELD- Place God in control of your day and your life, and trust Him fully. Take time to listen to his voice!
If you have more questions on prayer- please contact or visit us! We are more that willing to help! Or if you are not in the area, check with a local Christian church for more information!

LIVE THE WORD- The Bible is the inspired Word of God and his revelation of himself to all people and his plan of salvation. It is essential that we become students of the scriptures. These scriptures are the guidebook for our entire lives and walk with Christ.
Some people don't know where to begin when it comes down to the Bible. Often the best place to start is in the gospels. These are the stories of the life of Jesus. They include what he taught and how he lived.
Of course the Bible isn't simply just a reading assignment, but it is something for us to live by! It gives us instructions and guidelines for living and we are expected to base our lives on its teachings! Read the Bible as if it were a love letter- something we cherish and value, something we change our lives for! Let us pursue God in his written Word and lives according to it!

TELL THE STORY- If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have just received the greatest give ever! Is that something you would keep a secret or something you would tell everyone about? If we are grateful and excited about what Jesus has done for us, we should be excited to share it with others! But the question is how?
First, share the gospel by simple telling your story! Tell people how turning your life to Christ has benefited your life. Let your excitement show through your story.
Second, share the gospel through a living example. Let people see God's change in your life! Sometimes your life change is the greatest sign of God's work. Let people see what he has done and that he is at work in you. Of course this doesn't mean for us to be perfect, that would be impossible, but show people the difference and let them do the math,
Finally, shine God's love towards others. In your excitement and gratitude, use God's love to bless others. Look for ways you can be a blessing in other people's lives!

PLUG IN WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS- It is not God's plan for us to make this journey alone. There are millions upon millions of people all around the world making this same journey! Find a group of them and join in on their fellowship. Share with them what God has done with your life and take time to listen to their stories. Find encouragement and guidance with this group of Christians and join forces with them to lead other people into a relationship with Christ! This is what we call church.
